About Justin

Justin Cochran has been a resident of Des Plaines since 1997 and is a proud graduate of Maine West High School. A lifelong resident of the northwest suburbs, he has deep roots in the community he now represents and a strong commitment to public service and civic engagement.
Justin earned his bachelor’s degree in history and his master’s degree in political science from Northeastern Illinois University. His academic background has informed his long-standing interest in government, public institutions, and the ways in which policy decisions affect communities over time.
He has devoted his professional career to public service. Justin worked for the State of Illinois as an archivist with the Illinois State Archives, where he helped preserve and maintain the historical records of state government. He later served as Chief of Staff to State Representative Marty Moylan, where he played a central role in managing legislative operations, constituent services, and district outreach. In that role, he worked closely with local governments, advocacy organizations, and residents to address issues ranging from transportation and infrastructure to seniors’ services and state agency assistance.
In addition to his professional work, Justin has been deeply involved in his local community. He has held leadership positions at Saint Martin’s Episcopal Church in Des Plaines, serving on the vestry and as a warden, helping to guide the church’s governance and community outreach efforts.
Justin’s experience in state government, combined with his deep ties to Des Plaines and the surrounding communities, has shaped his pragmatic approach to public service. He is committed to responsive constituent service, responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, and practical solutions that strengthen communities and improve quality of life for Illinois families.
He continues to live in Des Plaines, where he remains actively engaged in civic and community life.
